STEPS TO MENTAL WEALTH 1/1

Mental health issues are a common and often debilitating condition affecting millions worldwide. It can manifest in various ways, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and many others. Dealing with mental health issues can be challenging, but there are many healthy ways to manage and overcome them granted you have the strength and foresight to know things will get better. To those who are reading this article and currently do not have said strength please understand it will get better and do your best to finish this article as it may serve to be beneficial.

One of the most critical steps in dealing with mental health issues is to seek professional help. This can include seeing a therapist or counsellor, as well as consulting with a doctor or psychiatrist. These professionals can provide a variety of treatments, including cognitive behavioural therapy, medication, and other forms of therapy. They can also provide support and guidance as you navigate the challenges of living with your respective issue. Another important step in dealing with your issues is to practice self-care. This is a spectrum of large to small tasks that lead to self-betterment. This can include things like eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly. These activities can help improve your physical and mental health, and can also provide a sense of control over what seems to be untamable (Your mental health). Additionally, it is important to find activities and hobbies that you enjoy and can be a source of pleasure and relaxation. Engaging in activities such as reading, writing, painting, or listening to music can be a great way to relax and de-stress.

The next step to take to mental wealth is learning coping mechanisms to deal with the symptoms of your issues. Now, the following things I’m going to propose used to sound corny to me but they really do work if you commit the time to them. Some coping mechanisms include things like mindfulness practices, such as meditation or yoga, which can help reduce stress and anxiety. Additionally, journaling or talking to a friend or therapist can be a great way to process emotions and feelings associated with your issues. Mindfulness practices can also help you to be more present at the moment and to focus on the present instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.

Another step that is necessary to manage your mental health issues is to build a supportive network of people around you, whether it be friends, family, or support groups. They can provide emotional support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging that is crucial in attempting to combat your issues. Mind you I have a personal gripe with support groups… Be careful which one you join because sometimes they can be a toxic echo chamber with like-minded people who are struggling in a horrible headspace. Be sure to find a healthy positive area with like-minded people who are trying to escape the negative confines of their mental illness, instead of falling victim to the confines of the illness. On top of this, it is important to practice positive self-talk the majority of the time when trying to combat your illness. Negative self-talk is a never-ending abyss that can quickly consume you if not careful.

Lastly, education and knowledge about your issues can be very powerful tools for managing and overcoming them. Understanding more about your mental health issues can help reduce the stigma surrounding them and can also help you to better understand and manage your condition. My favourite is stories from people who have conquered and are surviving my illness, Ted Talks, and books pertaining to my issue.

In conclusion, dealing with mental health issues can be challenging, but there are many healthy ways to manage and overcome them. Seeking professional help, practicing self-care, learning coping mechanisms, building a supportive network, practicing self-compassion, and educating oneself about mental health issues are all important steps in managing and overcoming mental health issues. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help and take the time to take care of yourself. It is important to remember that recovery is a journey and it takes time and patience.
